INSIGHT
Recognised for wholesale excellence at the UK Fibre Awards
We are delighted to announce that Virgin Media Business Wholesale was Highly Commended in the Best Wholesale Fibre Provider category at the UK Fibre Awards 2025.
Held at London Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel on 5 June, this year’s UK Fibre Awards marked the fourth year of the event, which celebrates annual achievements in Britain’s booming fibre, Altnet and carrier sectors.
This year the best in technology, projects, organisations, sustainability, culture and community initiatives were celebrated by around 500 fibre professionals, gathered to acknowledge the sector leaders making a difference across several technical, business and achievement categories.
Entries were invited from organisations including Altnets, carriers, ISPs, contractors and advisors in the M&A, legal, planning and regulatory spaces.
Best Wholesale Fibre Provider
The award in which Virgin Media Business Wholesale gained the commendation, Best Wholesale Fibre Provider, is a category recognising the companies providing reseller partners with the best processes and support in the delivery of fibre services.
Our commendation recognises our close work with partners and constant improvements to our service, which is something we’re extremely proud of.
By levelling up our commitment to great customer experience in 2024 and beyond, we achieved:
These achievements have been key to enabling our partners to grow and compete with much larger competitors.
Standing apart from our competitors
Affordability and flexibility are a priority for our partners, so everything we did in 2024 was designed with that in mind. Against the backdrop of a high inflation environment and market price increases, we froze prices across the board and dropped our 1Gb National Ethernet pricing.
We also launched standardised pricing on Dark Fibre, making it easier to purchase from us. This competitive pricing strategy not only helped us deliver growth, but supported our partners through a challenging economic situation, at a time when our competitors were raising prices.
Adding Ethernet over Converged Interconnect Network (CIN) also means we can provide a more efficient, resilient, scalable and flexible service. And we’ve streamlined the customer experience by increasing the self-serve capabilities available to our partners.
Impressing the judges
The UK Fibre Awards were judged by a panel of industry experts who individually and independently assessed entries on their specific criteria, alongside any support information provided. We were proud to be able to present our recent efforts and added value for partners – alongside our market-beating growth – and all while keeping prices as fair as possible.
This customer-first mindset was most clearly demonstrated by our 19-point improvement in overall net promoter score (NPS), with scores improving across drivers including “value for money”, “ease of doing business”, “product and service” and “delivery”.
To help us stand out further, we outlined the vast network at our disposal, which currently consists of over 190,000 km of wholly owned fibre. We also have 336 points of presence (PoPs) around the country, each covering a geographical area roughly equivalent to 10 BT exchanges.
Our purpose is to help other organisations leverage Virgin Media O2’s network infrastructure and to enable the channel community to accelerate the UK digital economy at pace.
Moving forwards, together
We were honoured to be part of the 2025 UK Fibre Awards, and we hope to be involved next year too as we continue to improve the way partners do business with us and consume our services.
We’re committed to pursuing our partners’ success and moving forwards together, all while offering the same flexibility and competitive commercial we’re known for.
Many congratulations to everyone else who won an award this year, and to all the nominees.
