How SD-WAN works
SD-WAN creates a virtual WAN (wide-area network) through a centrally controlled overlay that lets you manage and deploy branch-office services across your organisation.
1. Creating an overlay network
SD-WAN allows you to simplify your WAN infrastructure by replacing legacy branch routers, giving you full visibility and control of everything happening across your network at an individual application level — all from one virtual dashboard.
2. Introducing application awareness
Unlike most traditional networks, SD-WAN understands individual applications – including any service level agreements (SLAs) – and automatically creates network policies for them, constantly monitoring each application to optimise performance.
3. Providing a policy-based framework
The network policies SD-WAN creates are adaptive, updating in real time based on current business needs. And because your technical staff can monitor and control every policy and application from a central platform, it reduces the strain on your IT department.

Your SD-WAN migration journey
The diagram below shows how we migrate you from your traditional network (on the left) to SD-WAN (on the right).
We use resilient service gateways between your existing MPLS (IP VPN) network and your new SD-WAN network, ensuring a seamless transition and uninterrupted site-to-site communication.
Your virtual dashboard
We’ve partnered with Versa – recognised as a ‘leader’ in Gartner’s 2020 Magic Quadrant for WAN Edge Infrastructure – to create a secure software overlay that lets you control your entire network with ease through one simple interface.
