At a time when online shopping is massive and still gathering pace - and more big name brands invade the high street - it’s reassuring to know that in one leafy corner of England there’s an independent standing their ground. And they’re hoping to get a whole lot more personal with their clientele.

In picturesque Banstead, nestled amongst the large supermarket and handful of chain coffee shops are independent jewellers, Campbells.

It’s been letting its customers delve into the past and partake in the unique. It’s quaint, it’s bespoke and it happens to be powered by 200Mbps of ultrafast Virgin Media Business broadband.

Our role

Campbells isn’t the kind of place you’d go to and pick up a mass-produced charm bracelet or the latest celebrity bling. It’s traditional and it oozes elegance.

Campbells has been a Virgin Media Business customer since 2015. Swapping its mediocre broadband for something more reliable, not to mention a lot faster, the business’ back office was transformed, as well as its shop floor.


Despite its online presence restricted in part to a social media page, and a small on-site technology requirement, Campbells 200Mbps ultrafast connectivity is adding an additional layer of quality to the personal touch the store prides itself on.

“We don’t have a massive IT need, but we recognise the importance of fast broadband and it’s safe to say we are making good use of it,” says Director Jim Donnelly, who’s introducing more of a digital vibe into the Campbells customer experience.

“Ultrafast from Virgin Media Business is so much better than the stuttering ADSL broadband we replaced. We now have the capability to take to the shop floor and use tablets when we’re helping customers, engaging them in deeper conversation.

“And we can research pieces of jewellery there and then, tracking down items we might want to bring in. And it allows us to undertake valuations much quicker and far more effectively than previously.”
