SIP Trunking - bringing voice and data together
What is SIP Trunking?
SIP Trunking is a virtual connection that allows VoiP traffic to be exchanged between your IP PBX and your service provider’s softswitch This connection is enabled using a variety of physical connections, including IP VPN (Layer 3), Ethernet (Layer 2) or even broadband.
SIP Trunking is the evolutionary successor to ISDN30 and as well as giving benefits such as DDI and CLIP, with the right set-up and configuration of your IP PBX you can also take advantage of multimedia, including video, instant messaging and file sharing.
Our next generation of SIP Trunking, IP Site Connect, is based on IPVPN or Ethernet connectivity to connect your IP PBX (or your Media Gateway) to our softswitch. Your IP PBX needs to be SIP enabled of course but we can help you with that, too.
Why use SIP Trunking instead of ISDN30?
- SIP Trunking uses cheaper data circuits and has lower cost call rates.
- Works with modern IP PBX systems, without the need of a Line Card, as well as older PBXs (with a SIP-ISDN gateway).
- Any spare connectivity capacity can be used for Internet access and WAN connectivity.
- Although ISDN connectivity prices are likely to remain static, data connectivity prices are likely to keep falling.
- SIP Trunking is well on the way to becoming the new standard for voice.
Your networking requirements
Peaks and congestion can occur with many networks, so to make sure call quality remains consistent, your LAN or WAN should be QoS enabled, end-to-end.
Installation
We’ll manage your migration to IP Site Connect to avoid any interrupted service for your business or organisation.
