Leased Lines

Overview

Connect two sites together on a dedicated network

Fixed bandwidth that's all yours

Our point to point leased line connections (also known as Private Circuits) are just the job if you require dedicated, always-on, fixed bandwidth connectivity between two points; to transport data, internet or voice traffic. Leased lines are incredibly cost effective, particularly if you tend to exchange large volumes of traffic between your company’s sites or a valued business partner (aren’t they all?).

Thanks to our massive network infrastructure, you get faster, high bandwidth leased line connections (from 2 Mbit/s to 155 Mbit/s* and upwards) at really low cost. Larger organisations can also use leased lines to create a Virtual Private Network (VPN) and we offer a managed internet access solution using leased lines where we can take care of everything for you. More about Managed Internet Access.

There’s dedication for you.

What you'll get

  • Flexible bandwidths - we can offer guaranteed availability for 2 Mbit/s, 34 Mbit/s, 140 Mbit/s and 155Mb. Many other bandwidths are supported and we’ll always work with you to meet your needs.
  • Huge access network across the UK. Because we own our network, we don’t have to purchase bandwidth from a third party, giving you faster, high quality leased line connections at a really low cost.
  • Rapid installation of business-critical communication links.
  • Guaranteed fix times combined with high availability guarantees.

* Geographical service variations may apply in some cases - please contact us for more details.

Transfer data at high speed

Leased lines are available in a range of speeds from 2 Mbit/s to 155 Mbit/s bandwidths. All speeds can be delivered on a local or long distance basis. Naturally, our point to point leased lines are supported with a stringent Service Level Agreement (SLA), backed up with service credits for further peace of mind.

Connect to our nationwide fibre optic network

With a £13 billion network infrastructure providing high bandwidth, high reliability digital connections, across the UK, we’re leaders in leased line connectivity. We’ve also got the largest alternative IP network in the UK and so, unlike many other providers and resellers, we don't have to purchase bandwidth from a third party. What does this mean for you? Simply faster, high quality leased line connections at a really low cost.

From your very first call to us, through to installation and beyond, you’ll find us totally dedicated.

Hassle-free bandwidth upgrades

Also called LAN Extensions, Ethernet Extensions provide an affordable, dedicated, point to point connection between two locations at Ethernet bandwidths of 10, 100 and 1000 Mbit/s. We’re proud to be one of the UK’s leading providers of short haul Ethernet leased lines to wholesale and business customers. We’ve been doing it for over ten years now and have installed over 11,000 circuits. Which is why you should give us a call. See how Ethernet Extensions work.

Features & Benefits

A business network just for you

Features

  • Data - secure private data networks can be established to provide intelligent routing, resilience and diagnostic features, when supported by multiplexers and data switches.
  • Internet - increasingly, organisations are using leased lines for internet access because they provide fast data transfer rates and are extremely cost effective when the internet is used heavily. We also offer an internet Leased Line solution to meet these needs.
  • Voice - a private voice network can be established. In addition, links can be established direct from your site to a cellular network.
  • Video - video conferencing is also supported.

And more

  • Flexible leased line bandwidths - guaranteed availability for 2 Mbit/s, 34 Mbit/s, 140 Mbit/s and 155 Mbit/s. Many other bandwidths are supported and we’ll always work with you to meet your needs.
  • Reliability - we’ve a target time to repair a fault on our network within a maximum of four hours of it being reported, keeping downtime to a minimum.

Why choose leased lines?

  • No hidden costs - the fixed monthly rental for our leased lines is calculated according to the distance between sites.
  • Flexibility - we can provide a Private Circuit anywhere in the UK. Where sites are outside our network area we utilise a third party operator with whom we have formal Service Level Agreements (SLA) in place for a high quality end to end service.
  • Service Level Agreements (SLA) in place for a high quality end to end service.
  • Scalability - a range of flexible bandwidths to suit your needs and scaled to meet your growth requirements. A  2Mbit/s leased line connection remains the most popular circuit bandwidth within the UK, but you could choose bandwidths of up to 155 Mbit/s.
  • Security - sole use of the Private Circuit bandwidth means that no other organisation can access your vital data.

A Private Circuit (or Leased Line connection) from us is a high performance solution that can be used to transport data, internet, voice or video traffic between two designated sites.

Detailed Info

Your own private business network

Everything you need to know about your new connection

Leased lines are among the most well established digital data circuits. They’re non-switched point to point circuits between two local, regional or national sites providing dedicated capacity. These connections are dedicated paths across our network..

  • Network - we usually deliver leased lines via our own Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) network, but we can also use a third party's circuits in order to access certain end user sites, where necessary. The actual traffic that’s carried between the two sites depends on the type of customer premise equipment (CPE) installed.
  • Virtual Private Network (VPN) - organisations with geographically dispersed sites often use 2 Mbit/s leased lines to provide a Virtual Private Network (VPN). These circuits are terminated on the PABX at each site and the DPNSS protocol is used to provide a feature rich network. The PABX provides management of the channels on the 2 Mbit/s link, enabling fixed bandwidths to be allocated to specific users.
  • Internet access - many organisations use Private Circuits for internet access because they provide fast and cost effective data transfer rates for high usage. When used this way, it’s necessary to define where both ends of the circuit are to terminate, i.e. your organisation's premises and the ISP. Take the hassle out of managing your Internet connection with Managed Internet Access.
