Advantages of business broadband with Voom Fibre
Download vs upload
What comes down doesn’t necessarily need to go up
It’s likely you send a lot less data from your office into the internet (upload) than you download. Video-conferencing, VoIP and backing-up data to the Cloud can significantly add to the pressure from email and web browsing.
But with up to 20Mbps from Voom Fibre business broadband, most businesses will be well-equipped. But if your business is a very heavy-user of bandwidth, take a look at Dedicated Internet Access. They've the same upload and download speeds and go up to 5Gbps.
Wireless Hitron Router
Speed, signal and security
Your router is the heart of your connectivity. It’s responsible for a large part of your network security, passing all of your data in and out of your network, and connecting to your wireless devices.
The powerful Wireless Hitron Router comes as standard with each Voom Fibre business broadband option with 20/40 MHz bandwidth. WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) gives you a quick set-up of a secure wireless network.
Secure WiFi access
Undock your devices, this WiFi will set them free
Free your team from being tethered by cables and let them unleash their tablets, notebooks and phones. Our Hitron box has WiFi covered; with 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, giving both awesome speed and reach. A configurable software firewall is included to let you set simple filters and controls because we know that with great freedom comes responsibility.
What's in an IP
A unique string of numbers separated by full stops
You’ve probably seen them before in your browser. They look something like this: http://172.16.254.1. They identify each device using the internet. To connect to the internet, your router needs at least one ‘IP.
If you’re doing things like browsing, using email, downloading and uploading files or instant messaging, you only need that one IP. And it can change every so often. It doesn’t matter. That’s known as a ‘dynamic IP’.
Cloud business applications
Take your office with you. Share your files and data
When you get online, you can make the most of a range of Cloud Business Applications to support your business. With Voom Fibre business broadband you can seamlessly run Microsoft Office 365 applications and make the most of benefits such as file back-ups, real time collaboration, instant messaging and security features.
Choose Option 2 or Option 3 of Voom Fibre to get preferential discounts on Microsoft Office 365, once you are a Virgin Media Business customer. Accounting, payroll, planning, payment. What else do you want to do in the Cloud?
Service level agreements (SLA)
Online, phone & dedicated
The speed at which you access the internet determines how much #VOOM you can put in the room. If this is all about maximising your uptime, choose the 12-hour response time, available with Option 2 or 3.

Is there any downtime when I switch to Virgin Media Business?
We always try to minimise any interruption to your service as we switch you over. But for added peace of mind, as we own our own network, if you’re in a Virgin Media cabled area you can choose to keep your existing service until we connect you.
Please note you’ll need to continue paying your current provider if you do this, plus it’s your responsibility to cancel your existing services. Virgin Media Business can’t be held responsible if your existing provider fails to do this.
If I switch my phone line, can I keep my current phone number?
Yes, normally you can keep your BT phone number and stop paying BT line rental if you’re staying in the same local area. Just let us know when you buy online or speak to our sales team.
The legal stuff
Speeds referred to are download speeds. All prices subject to VAT at 20%. Subject to 24 months minimum term contract.
Ofcom Voluntary Business Broadband Speeds Code of Practise
Our business broadband speeds are advertised as ‘up to’ which means that whilst you should normally expect to receive the speeds as advertised, the actual speed you experience will be influenced by a number of factors and as a result it is possible that the speed you receive may be reduced.
Minimum download speed
The minimum download speed to your Virgin Media Business Hitron router should not fall below 50% Mbps. If this happens for three consecutive days or more and we are unable to fix the problem within 30 days of you reporting the problem to Virgin Media Business, you may have the right to exit your Virgin Media contract without penalty, for full information and terms please read our Speed Performance guide here.
Minimum cost of install is £50 per site. Excess construction charges may apply.
Keeping you connected
Our broadband cable network service availability level is 99.9% a year. If a problem arises and you can’t use your broadband for cable services, we’ll aim to restore your service within 24 hours following a fault.
