Managed PBX Services
Looking for a fully managed telephony service to install into
new premises or to replace or enhance your existing system, with
minimal or no capital expenditure? If so, then Centrex has got your
name on it.
What is Centrex?
Put simply, it’s a cost effective, fully managed business voice
solution offering a flexible and scalable alternative to a
premise-based voice system (private automatic branch exchange -
PABX). Essentially, Centrex provides you with a switchboard
capability that’s actually managed from our telephone exchange,
meaning that you avoid all the day-to-day hassle and costs of
managing the phone system yourself. That’ll be a weight off your
shoulders.
You’ll find that we offer a variety of call plans at competitive
prices to suit the size and needs of your business. It’s also easy
to move any existing telephone numbers over to our service, without
any disruption to your business.
Let’s talk.

- No equipment needed - we handle the switch for you.
- Cost-effective features included in the line rental.

The Centrex (IP) package is a network hosted telephony solution
that gives you similar capabilities to premises-based equipment,
which means there’s no need to buy, manage or upgrade hardware.

access features via * and # codes. In addition to Unified Messaging
capability, you can also enjoy:

dialling.

Features & benefits
Centrex
Managed PBX Services
It’s time to hang up on your old system.
Features
Centrex is packed with a range of dedicated business features,
especially designed to complement the call handling efficiency of
your organisation. Here’s just a few of the most popular
features:
- Direct dial services - every
Centrex extension has its own unique directory number, which allows
external users to bypass switchboard operators and to call a member
of your team direct. In addition, it means that each Centrex user
doesn’t experience any network constraints in obtaining a line to
make external calls.
- Convenience dialling – you’ll love our other
features designed to make life easier for you, such as speed
dialling, call transfer, conference calling and call barring.
- Efficient call handling – with Centrex, we’ve
gone the extra mile to ensure that calls can be handled as
efficiently as possible, through features like call park, call
hold, call divert and voicemail. Every user has a personal message
box supporting personal greetings, message retrieval and message
forwarding.
- Call completion – with business life becoming
busier, it’s reassuring to know that Centrex can help out with such
features as ring back when free, last number redial, and anonymous
call reject.
- Uniform call distribution** - a sophisticated
call handling service designed for departments needing to
efficiently manage a high volume of incoming calls.
- Enquiry call - place an incoming call on hold
and then make an enquiry call to another extension before returning
to your held call.
- Call pick up - key in the extension of a
ringing phone and pick it up from anywhere in the office.
- Auto attendant** - automated and efficient
front-end call handling service.
- Hunting - searches for a free line within a
user-defined group ensuring every call is answered.
Benefits
Centrex offers so many advantages over a traditional PABX
solution. And here are some shining examples:
- Cost effective - utilisation of our central
exchange removes the need for capital expenditure and ongoing costs
associated with PABX maintenance contracts. Centrex is also
compatible with standard BABT approved analogue handsets, which are
widely available, so you can use your existing handsets.
- Fully managed - we monitor the Centrex network
24/7, 365 days a year at no additional cost to you, ensuring that
you experience minimum systems outage, with the benefit of enhanced
service reliability.
- Unlimited growth - no need to worry about
network capacity issues or costly system upgrades with our Centrex
solution. Additional lines can be made available, for example, when
new people join, simply by phoning your account manager.
- Multiple locations - desk-to-desk dialling and
feature interaction supported across all sites within a local
group, while virtual private networking can be established across
multiple locations. And you won’t have to rent the expensive
private circuit links, often needed with a PABX network, as the
complete costs associated with providing a Centrex private network
are included within your Centrex line rental tariff.
- Future proofing - users are protected against
their network investment becoming obsolete, as we continue to
invest in the latest technology, through to IP Multimedia applications.
- Ongoing Support - you’ll be allocated a
Solutions and Training Consultant to manage your pre and post sales
training or service change requirements.
- Flexible and feature rich - a range of
executive business features that can be customised to departmental
or individual user requirements. As your organisation grows or call
handling needs change, Centrex can be reconfigured to change with
you.
It’s time you gave us a call.
Centrex is available within our franchise areas.

Detailed Info
Centrex
Managed PBX Services
The Central Exchange
We deliver our Centrex service from the Public Switched
Telephony Network (PSTN) via our fibre optic network. With the
exception of desktop equipment, you don’t need customer premise
equipment (CPE), as we supply and manage the service direct from
the Local Exchange (LE). Each individual Centrex extension is a
direct line terminating at the Central Exchange. The Central
Exchange is partitioned into any number of private Centrex customer
groups, each completely secure from the other. Software levels
within each exchange support a full suite of Centrex business
features. Each feature that you select will be pre-programmed
against each direct line or group of lines ordered and tailored to
work in line with your individual or departmental requirements.
Contention Ratio
Centrex benefits from a 1:1 contention that eliminates any
capacity constraints around incoming and outgoing call scenarios.
This means that there’s no need to undertake detailed traffic
analysis to justify the cost of expensive trunk capacity.
Networking
As well as offering unprecedented networking capabilities,
Centrex provides many key benefits over a PABX. For example, it’s
easy to incorporate multiple company locations into one common
platform. What’s more, remote locations and even existing PABXs can
be connected to the Centrex service. And it can also support a
hybrid solution by integrating a nominated site into a Virtual
Private Network (
VPN
)
using Digital Private Network Signalling System (DPNSS).
Implementation
Our friendly experts will ensure that your Centrex service is
installed with minimum disruption to your organisation. To begin
with, our sales specialists, supported by our highly skilled
business solution consultants, will identify your current and
future requirements and design a solution tailored to your needs.
The operational support divisions steer the agreed design from
inception to completion with a full and/or phased install
programme, according to your timescales. We also allocate a
dedicated training officer to ensure all immediate and ongoing
training requirements are fulfilled.
IP Telephony options
With IP Multimedia from us, you can introduce multimedia
communications gradually across your network. IP Multimedia can be
used with:
- Your existing PBX
- Network hosted (Centrex) services
- Existing analogue phones and equipment.
We’ve loads of experience in managing change in communications,
so before implementing IP Multimedia, our network design teams will
work with you to specify your requirements and prepare your
network.
IP Multimedia is a fully-managed service, allowing your IT staff
to concentrate on other stuff. It operates over our national IP
Network, monitored 24/7, and you only need to lease the
functionality or capacity that your business demands.
We’ve developed a range of packages that deliver basic and
advanced features and services on different terminal platforms,
depending on your day-to-day needs. These include options for
office-based staff, those requiring mobile communications or remote
access and even specialised workers such as call centre personnel.
Enhanced voice capabilities can be accessed either through feature
codes on analogue handsets or feature keys on IP telephones and
soft phones. And here are the packages:
