IP CCTV
Keeping an eye on things
Every business serious about safety needs reliable Closed
Circuit Television (CCTV) installations to watch over their
premises. If you're interested in CCTV for your business you’ve
come to the right place because we’re incredibly experienced in
this area, working with local boroughs, councils and businesses
across the UK. By providing the best products and services around,
we’ve simply changed the way surveillance video is accessed,
controlled and stored.
Key features
- Relax, knowing that our experience covers a number of high
profile public and corporate sector deployments.
- Our solutions are delivered over a converged IP network capable
of delivering physical security, data and communication solutions
on a single platform.
- Your IP CCTV solution will be designed, installed and
proactively managed by specialists of both CCTV and IP networks.
They know their stuff inside out.
Fighting crime and protecting your business
CCTV monitoring has really helped to cut crime and vandalism in
town and city centres, retail outlets, public car parks,
construction sites, hospitals, transport links and other potential
'hot spots'. We’ve been at the forefront of this, helping corporate
and public sector organisations, like the Devon and Cornwall
Constabulary and UCE Birmingham, to implement and manage effective
CCTV networks.
More to IP CCTV than meets the eye
IP CCTV is a smart technology: beyond capturing images, it also
handles automatic number plate recognition, proactive face
recognition and object analysis, allowing for the fast analysis of
recorded images. IP CCTV monitoring can be centralised, allowing
your staff to focus on business critical areas. And with more and
more organisations interested in introducing intelligent building
control, IP CCTV has a huge role to play in this arena. And because
it can transmit images from potentially thousands of cameras over a
single fibre, your future requirements are already catered for.
What's more, since IP CCTV stores video in a digital format, you
can save space by waving goodbye to tape storage.
A fully managed service
Managed IP CCTV monitoring revolutionises the way video is
accessed, controlled and stored. We fully manage and maintain the
service 24/7, which means your IT and security team can concentrate
on core tasks while we look after proactive fault management and
remote diagnostics.
Through the convergence of CCTV with Metro
Ethernet VPN or IPVPN, we provide
flexibility and resilience to ensure live and recorded video images
can be stored and viewed securely anywhere on your network. This
makes remote CCTV monitoring easy. Our IP CCTV solution also
includes transmission, management and recording solutions, as well
as offering a clear route for the convergence of your
communications and security needs onto a single network.
Project management and managed services
IP CCTV is more than just a technology. We’re ready to help you
put it to work, from inception and design to installation and
maintenance. We’ll collaborate with your camera and power suppliers
and other third parties to give you the service you expect. Nothing
less.

Features
- Added value applications - digital video
supports the use of 'smart' software-based applications that
deliver enhanced effectiveness compared to traditional CCTV
solutions, including Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR),
face recognition and object analysis. IP CCTV becomes a starting
point, not a dead end.
- Bandwidth - we use MPEG2 and MPEG4 compression
technologies to limit bandwidth usage while delivering 25fps images
of comparable quality to your existing analogue solution.
Intelligent frame rates further reduce bandwidth demands by
changing to suit the amount of activity detected at the
scene.
- Ubiquitous access - you can view, control and
distribute live and recorded images from/to any point on the
network. Images can be viewed via a PC or traditional CCTV
monitors, even via a laptop or mobile device.
- Digital storage - video is stored in a digital
format on hard disc, offering rapid user-definable search
options.
- Flexibility - you can adjust your bandwidth as
your needs change and easily add sites to the core network. With
our Business Metro Ethernet VPN platform, there’s the flexibility
to manage the size of any VLAN across the network.
- Multiple camera feeds - you and your security
team can view images remotely and in multiple locations
simultaneously.
- Interactive applications - including email,
mobile text and images, can be used to alert, inform and update
onsite personnel.
- Resilience - our core network is inherently
resilient with multiple paths available for data. The network is
designed to automatically re-route around any failures. In
addition, the IP CCTV platform offers local storage that can be
used to replenish footage in the event of an outage.
- Viewing options - management software allows
multiple cameras to be viewed instantaneously or we can build
custom point-and-click map based virtual tours.
- Robust SLA - we offer a six-hour SLA (unique
within the industry). We’ll deal with the maintenance,
configuration and management of your IP CCTV solution for you. The
SLA has key metrics against fault response & resolution and
service credits against availability. In many cases, we’ll have
fixed a fault before you even know about it.
Benefits
- Scalability - IP CCTV runs over our Metro
Ethernet VPN and IPVPN networks, offering the associated networking
and management capabilities that lead to improved flexibility,
functionality and scalability compared to traditional
CCTV.
- Backwards compatibility - as IP CCTV can be
used in conjunction with, or as an upgrade to, traditional CCTV,
organisations can continue to fully exploit their existing network
infrastructure.
- Centralisation - monitoring facilities can be
centralised with remote CCTV monitoring, leading to cost reduction
and resource rationalisation.
- Cost savings - cost and footprint requirements
are dramatically reduced over traditional tape based storage
solutions.
- Fully managed network service - IP CCTV
is fully managed and maintained 24/7 by us, which means your IT
staff can concentrate on your core business while we look after
proactive fault management and remote diagnostics.
- Configurable - a software front end
allows you to tailor the solution to your own requirements and
increase the effectiveness of security personnel.
- Remote monitoring - live and recorded
video images are stored and viewed securely anywhere on your
network.
There, that’s covered it.
Detailed Info
IP CCTV
A view to safety
IP CCTV
The use of CCTV has grown dramatically over the last decade and
is set to continue, with IP quickly becoming the dominant market
technology.
We’re a proven provider of IP networking solutions and have an
established track record of supplying, installing and maintaining a
range of flexible, cost effective CCTV solutions to address
specific security surveillance needs.
Our IP CCTV solution is offered as a managed service that
operates over the Virgin Media Business IP enabled networks, and
will benefit from many of the networking and management
capabilities associated with these platforms.
Network Solution
IP CCTV is offered as a converged service over both our Ethernet
and IPVPN platforms. Dedicated VLANs and a video quality of service
(QoS) and class of service (CoS), ensure that your other voice and
business critical applications are unaffected even though the
infrastructure is shared.
The flexibility of our IP network platforms also allows numerous
access technologies to be used, including wireless, ADSL, and
traditional fibre solutions, to provide the most cost effective
solution possible.
Elements of an IP CCTV system
- CODEC - CODECs perform the compression
(encoding) into MPEG 2 or MPEG 4 formats of the analogue camera
output, and decompression (decoding) at the viewing
point.
- Web Browser - Each CODEC can be accessed via
web browser for viewing, recording, setup and
management.
- VIDOS - VIDOS is the central video management
software solution for all IP CCTV network-connected CODECS and
NVRs. It interfaces with both PC and CCTV monitors, provides a
customisable interface for point and click virtual tours, manages
alarms and can be used to provide the same functionality as a
matrix switch, allowing multiple cameras to be viewed at once, if
required.
- NVR - NVR is software that runs on a
server. It can be configured to record video and audio to hard disk
directly from the CODEC or remotely over the network
platform.
- Media converters - These are used to convert
the RF output of the CODEC (encoder) into an optical signal for
transmission over fibre. They are also used to convert the optical
signal back to RF as required.
Where remote functions are required, control
pads featuring joysticks, microphones, keyboards etc. are
available, featuring interfaces such as RS232. Contact closures and
bi-directional audio, for example, are also supported to provide
remote access and concierge solutions..
