Our super fast fibre optic broadband network is capable of
downloading high quality music files of about 5Mb in 9 seconds over

areas out of our control when you connect to the internet but we
still know our performance is award winning.

more information, check out our Business

Not in a Virgin Media Business cabled area?
No worries. We provide two types of Business Broadband: ADSL and
cable. ADSL broadband comes over your phone line, while cable
broadband uses fibre optic cable. So we can give you a top-class
broadband service, wherever you happen to be located.
Currently with another supplier?
No problem. Just call or email and we’ll take
care of the rest. We’ll aim to minimise any downtime during the
changeover. And if you’re ‘migrating’ from another supplier, we’ll
liaise with them on your behalf. One thing, though, you may need to
obtain certain authorisation codes first. One call does it.
How about support?
We’re as good as our word. And we won’t charge
you for help. You’ll have a FreePhone (0800) number to call our
dedicated Business Support Team 24/7, 365 days a year. What’s more,
there’ll be a two-hour response to your call with an aim to fix it
within 24 hours. And we’ll always keep you in the loop, so you
aren’t left guessing.
Accurate speeds?
Well, broadband speeds can wobble at times, depending on things
like the computer’s spec and website load. But, everything else
aside, our network uses fibre optic cable to enable award winning
broadband performance, not last century copper wires. So our
advertised speeds are a lot closer to what you can expect. Ask
Ofcom: they recently published a review showing our average
download speed of up to 10Mb broadband as almost double the UK
average. We’re doubly proud of that.
Broadband speeds
According to Ofcom's
latest report on broadband speeds, Virgin Media Business
delivers more than any other major ISP.

Detailed Info
Business Broadband
High speed business broadband at a low price
How quick is a quick installation?
Pretty quick, actually. Once you’ve placed your order, our
Business Support Team will contact you within 24 hours (Monday to
Friday) to confirm any details and arrange an installation
whenever’s convenient for you - during working hours, of course.
Our average installation time is 15 working days (subject to
survey), although it usually all happens quicker if services have
previously been provided at your premises.
What exactly does installation involve?
Installation involves an on-site engineer to install your
telephone, internet connection and equipment. If necessary, he’ll
replace or upgrade your existing modem/router with a business grade
model. One-off installation charges are £49 (if we already have a
network connection in your office) or £99 (if we don’t).
Your installation in greater detail
If you’ve somewhere specific you’d like us to put your modem
(this will need to be near a standard power supply), just let our
engineer know. Also, if you have a LAN, the network socket or
access port will need to be within reasonable distance of where the
modem is to sit. Naturally, our engineer will check your internet
access is working before leaving. Your email and domain name will
be switched over after this if you’re moving from an existing
supplier. Any existing phone number(s) which you have asked to port
over will also be done after the installation is complete. And
there you have it.
The benefits of a business email and domain name
Business email addresses and a Company domain name (based on
your business name) e.g. john.smith@virginmb.co.uk
give you a truly professional profile.
Keep your existing phone numbers
Don’t lose the number that so many customers and suppliers know
you by. If you wish to keep your numbers, just let us know and
we’ll move them over.
Keep and transfer your existing website (or domain name)
Just let us know - our Business Support Team will talk you
through it.
Keep your existing email addresses
Just let us know - our Business Support Team will talk you
through it (they’re a helpful bunch).
How about a fixed IP address?
If you’re on the 10Mb package, then you can take a fixed IP
address as an additional extra. You’d generally take this to host
your own web servers or run a VPN. In certain instances where
network engineering is required, the IP address may change. We’ll
always notify you in advance.
Your existing router
If you already have a router, you can usually
just plug this straight into the new cable modem. If you have an
ADSL modem/router, we’ll replace this with a cable modem/router as
part of the installation.
Your IP address
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to port
another IP address (this applies when you move to any new
supplier). A new one will be issued to you based on your
requirements. Just let us know and we’ll talk you through the
options.
Okay, so what are the benefits of fibre-optic
broadband?
- You are more likely to get the advertised
speeds – Virgin Media Business uses 21st-Century fibre
optic cable to deliver broadband, not last-century copper wires. So
our advertised speeds are a lot closer to what you can expect. As
the latest Ofcom study shows, we offer typically twice the download
speed, so you’re sure to find our speeds pretty fast
indeed.
- Reliability – there is also virtually no
'crosstalk' interference between cables, so connections are more
reliable and you’re less likely to see users being 'dropped' from
the internet. That way, no one gets cross.
- Save time – being able to download large media
files as part of your business, or send high volumes of emails is
always great. For example, a 5Mb PowerPoint presentation would
typically take four seconds to download (10Mb package) or two
seconds (20Mb package). Over the course of a day, this may not seem
very much, but over several months this can add up to a lot of time
(and money).
- Fibre optic is future proof – as a business
user, you’ll no doubt already be using the internet a lot, and
you'll probably want to do more in the future. The great news is
that our network is so advanced, regardless of how the internet
changes, your business will always be ready for anything.
Managing traffic fairly
We want everyone to enjoy their Virgin Media Business Broadband,
that’s why we manage our traffic so that a minority don't ‘hog’ a
large part of our bandwidth, and make speeds slower for everyone
else. This means that we sometimes moderate speeds for the top 5%
of customers who are downloading and/or uploading an unusually
large amount. Most broadband providers manage traffic in a similar
way - it helps keep things fair (and fast) for everybody.
Over 95% of our Customers are unaffected by traffic management,
since we only look at traffic from the top 5% of users every day.
We're constantly reviewing our Traffic Management policy to ensure
it benefits as many customers as possible.
