Swansea-based company creates 360 new jobs powered by Virgin Media Business

Nationwide Energy Services, a fast-growing UK energy services company, is creating 360 new jobs by rapidly expanding its contact centre powered by Virgin Media Business. The Swansea-based firm is booming as householders use its services to improve their domestic energy efficiency in order to reduce both carbon emissions and bills.

The Virgin Media Business network is central to enabling the rapid development of Nationwide Energy Services. Virgin Media Business now carries all phone calls and its Big Red Internet offering, the country’s first unconstrained business internet service, ensures there’s always as much bandwidth available as is needed. Virgin Media Business has installed a Cisco-based Local Area Network (LAN) and Call Manager services that have the flexibility to expand easily as more staff join. The company is also using the Virgin Media Business network to support its fast-developing commercial strategy, which includes seven web sites from money-saving comparison services to auctions.

As energy costs rise, Nationwide Energy Services is developing its business by providing grant and installation advice to people wanting loft and cavity wall insulation, and solar panels. The company, founded in 2005, also has several sister businesses that are expanding in areas including renewable energy, insurance products and providing a range of domestic and financial services.

“The drive for energy efficiency has struck a chord with householders across the UK and so our business is booming. We hired 60 people in the past few months and are looking for another 300 throughout this year as we work to meet this demand. The internet and phone services provided by Virgin Media Business are crucial in enabling us to expand this quickly,” said Dean Price, marketing director of Nationwide Energy Services.

“We’re visiting something like 4,000 homes around the country every week, and that means our communications system has to capture and organise a lot of information about appointments, orders and requirements from our people in the field. By working with Virgin Media Business we’ve been able to both ensure we always communicate effectively and make our telecoms systems ready to expand at breakneck pace,“ he said.

By switching to Virgin Media Business from its previous telecoms supplier BT, Nationwide Energy Services has been able to free its internet use from the capacity constraints of a non-fibre optic network and believes it now has an account management team that is in step with its expansion agenda. The new positions are mainly being created at its new contact centre on Swansea’s Matrix Park, which handles customer contact and co-ordinates its team of surveyors across the UK.

“Fast-growing and fast-changing businesses need telecoms services that can keep pace with their rate of progress,” said Paul Lawrence, head of business markets for Wales at Virgin Media Business. “Our fibre optic network has the sophistication to cope with surges in demand and personnel additions with minimal disruption to commercial or resource planning. Nationwide Energy Service has been able to plug in new hires as it gains new customers without breaking its stride.”
