Endsleigh, one of the UK’s best-known insurance providers, has selected ntl:Telewest Business, part of the Virgin Media Group, to help support the increasing volume of business that it handles online. This upgrade helps Endsleigh respond more effectively to its customers internet and telephone enquiries through speedier access to policies and quotations.
Endsleigh was founded in 1965 to serve the student market, and now offers a wide range of financial services with over 80 per cent of its business originating from the internet . As customers increasingly expect to shop for insurance and financial services online at a time convenient to them, Endsleigh has transferred much of its customer handling, quotation and transaction fulfilment online. The improvements that ntl:Telewest Business made to Endsleigh’s network will help ensure that these services are delivered to a consistently high standard and with the minimum of interruption.
“Insurance is all about giving people peace of mind, so it’s critical that the experience of buying and servicing an Endsleigh policy online and over the phone reflects this, said Jason Collins, infrastructure project manager for Endsleigh. “This new high-speed network gives customers immediate access to records and files no matter how they choose to deal with us. It’s an ideal basis for delivering slick services to customers now and in the future.”
The multi-homed network design means Endsleigh’s services will not be interrupted in the event of a technical failure, by allowing internet traffic to use another route immediately regardless of where a failure occurs. High-availability managed firewalls and sustained security monitoring are also provided, so rerouted internet traffic has the same level of security as normal service.
“Competition in the insurance market is intense, with service often being the factor that persuades customers to either stick with their insurer or take their business elsewhere,” said Paul Lawrence, head of business markets for ntl:Telewest Business in the south west. “Add this to customers’ overwhelming preference for doing business online and over the phone and it’s easy to see why insurers need to get their communications infrastructure right. With a fast, resilient network in place, Endsleigh has the ability to exceed service expectations now, and sufficient room for growth to do so well into the future.”
ntl:Telewest Business provided a high-speed 100 Megabits-per-second (Mbps) National Ethernet circuit to deliver managed internet services between Endsleigh’s Cheltenham headquarters and a principal site in Burnley. By providing access to the UK’s only nationwide next generation network, ntl:Telewest Business’ Ethernet services enable national businesses to deliver high speed communications across their entire office networks, regardless of their location.
