The Virgin Media Business Wholesale Markets Customer Event2010

Taking business to a better place’ was the theme of a special event for Virgin Media Business’s wholesale customer community. Find out what went down

The Virgin Media Business Annual Wholesale Customer Event 2010 was an evening dedicated to the company’s carrier and systems integrator customers. With the theme of ‘Taking business to a better place’, the event itself took place on 11 March 2010 at the Royal Institute of British Architects in London.

The event mixed entertainment with the chance to schmooze and find out important information on the future direction of Virgin Media Business and its plans for shaking up business telecoms in the UK. Marcus Hill, Head of SI Channel, kicked off proceedings with a special introduction to the company for the benefit of the many Virgin Media Business systems integrator customers present. “Our rebrand impacts on the way we at Virgin Media Business serve you as customers,” he told the assembled guests. “We want now to look at wholesale as a community and ask ‘What can we achieve together?’ That means helping you unlock value for your customers.”

Planning for the future

Marcus said he’d come up with a plan for growth that benefits everyone. “We’ve listened to your comments and made some key changes,” he said. “Now we need to plan for the longer term.”

Following a champagne reception, there was an hour of entertaining and presentations, delivered to a packed theatre of wholesale customers. Virgin boss Richard Branson opened with a video introduction. “This is not just about a name,” he said. “It’s about a level of service that Virgin is known for all over the world.”

Shaking up the market

Mark Heraghty, Managing Director of Virgin Media Business, then outlined some specific plans to grow business in the wholesale sector. “We’ll shake up the wholesale market just as Virgin Media has shaken up the retail market,” he promised. “We’re investing – in added security for our carrier-grade, industrial strength network, in added network resilience, in succeeding in public sector networking and in complying with new emerging standards there. We’ve innovated in the consumer market, now we’re going to innovate in the business market.”
